I2
Short for Internet2, a new global network being developed cooperatively by about 100 universities. The goal of I2 is to develop the technologies necessary to support high bandwidths required by applications such as live video. I2 is expected to be 100 to 1000 times faster than the current Internet.In addition to being fast, I2 will also support Quality-of-Service (QoS). This will allow two hosts to establish a connection with a guaranteed bandwidth.
