PCS refers to the three predominant digital cellular technologies operating in the 1.9-GHz band in the United States: CDMA, GSM and TDMA, all of which can allow data to be sent over cellular networks.

Short for Personal Communications Service, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) term used to describe a set of digital cellular technologies being deployed in the U.S. PCS includes CDMA (also called IS-95), GSM, and North American TDMA (also called IS-136).
